In 1977, I joined Seibu Giken Co., Ltd. and was involved in the development of total heat exchangers. Since then, I have been impressed by their high energy-saving performance, and have considered my life's work to be the development of technology that contributes to global energy conservation and ESG (Environment Social Governance).
I retired as a director in 2019.In 2020, I was asked to become an auditor of Seibu Giken Co., Ltd. (I could continue my research between work), and I became an auditor (later transitioned to an audit and supervisory committee system). However, in order to ensure the independence of the auditor, there was no budget, and I later learned that I could not hand over the development results to the company.
In between my duties as an auditor, I collected unnecessary items and waste and continued my life's work of researching carbon dioxide capture technology with my own funds. Since I couldn't use a carbon dioxide gas cylinder, I experimented with atmospheric carbon dioxide.I finally made a breakthrough and in May 2021, I showed a demonstration test using a prototype to company officials. However, the company responded that the Okano patent would be difficult to put into practical use and difficult to commercialize, and that it was not necessary for the company.
The company will not apply for a patent on my invention, so I have to notify them and apply for a patent at my own expense.
There was also a promise that "the audit committee members would not resign until the IPO was completed."
I wanted to use this patented technology to contribute to ESG on a global scale, so the year after the company's IPO, I resigned from my position as an audit and supervisory committee member and started a venture company to contribute to ESG on a global scale.
